What is the best camera/binoculars for Bird Watching? I need to know what is the best camera for bird watching. I would also like to know what brands of binoculars are great for bird watching too.
In England, can I really be locked up for bird watching using binoculars? My friends, uncles, sisters friends sons cousins nephew was hiding in a tree whilst he was bird watching and then this naked lady started screaming at him for some reason. He ended up spending time in the local lock up.

About binoculars: Is Nikon 8x40 Action Extreme ATB good for whale watching on land and on the boat? This is my first time to purchase a binocular. I can't afford those high end ones at $1,000 & up, but under $200 is ok. I read through a few websites on how to choose a binocular for whale watching. It seems like 8 x 40 is ideal. On the Amazon.com, this Nikon binocular recieved all 5 stars and costs only around $120. Do you all agree? I want to start to do whale watching (living by Pacific Coast) on land and maby on the boat in the future, but also plan to use my first binocular to do hiking, bird watching, black bear & grizzly bear watching as well. I know I sound a bit too greedy but I'm only a student... If this Nikon binocular would do a good job for whale watching mainly and other activities, I probably will go for it. To muncie birder: I read your answer to a question about binocular. You seem to be very knoweldgable about binoculars. Do you have any experience with the binocular for whale watching? I want to buy a telescope or a good pair of binoculars, I'm a beginner? I've never had a pair of binoculars and I've never even looked into a telescope. Bird watching. I need help identifying birds as I believe I'm a bit colour blind. ? I've hung loads of feed out for birds and I'm seeing some lovely little birds and I'm having trouble identifying them. My GF bought me a "Collins, Identifying Birds by Colour" book yesterday but it's not going to good. Will binoculars help?????? Any tips and advice please. What kind of binoculars would be good for scouting? Well, I've been playing airsoft for a while and I keep getting hit long range. I have an AK-47 with no rail, but I got really used to it. I want someone to reccommend a good pair of binoculars so I can sort of scout out the area before I go in. All I can find are star gazing ones and bird watching ones. Also, if it can be cheaper than $50 that would be good too.

How "hugely popular" is bird watching in western countries like U.K.,France and Germany and in U.S.? We observe that bird watching is a great hobby in West Europe and U.S and people watch silently for hours together thru binoculars and also video the childish antics,food habits,nesting activities etc of birds and also record their musical sounds, notes and chirpings. Not that we of the east are averse to such bird watching.City folks and students everywhere are showing increasing interest in this hobby.It provides a great escape from the miserable life in gas pollution and sound pollution filled concrete jungles of the cities. it also gives a spiritual satisfaction just as felt by wordsworth in his sojourns in rural sorroundings in Lake Districts.I just want to know the level of popularity of the hobby in the West.

Would you consider bird watching a good day trip out of the city? It is my hobby. I could lead a group of beginner bird watchers. I own two small charter/tour buses. My "big bus" seats 25 and has a luggage compartment. It has tv/dvd and upgraded seating and sound proofing. My smaller bus would seat 21 if it were not for the wheelchair lift. It has no tv/dvd and base model vinyl seating for 14 plus 2 wheel chairs. One seat folds up to make it 12+3. I am about 30 miles from NYC. On weekdays, the smaller one is in service for a good contract. The larger one is used for charters and tours 4-5 days a week. To work them more, I want bring people from the city to enjoy fruit picking and wineries about 40 miles north of here. There are several good bird sanctuaries in the region. I know some very well and others fairly well. Do you think urbanites would be interested in this sort of day trip? I'd also buy 3-4 pairs of $80-100 Nikon binoculars for the passengers to borrow. Does it sound interesting? Thanks for your input.

Critique on section of story, please? I didn't actually know people did this on Yahoo Answers, so I thought I'd give it a whirl and see what criticisms I could get. This story is being told from several first person narrators, and this is the second one in. Disclaimer: There is brief, fairly mild language. I don't know, does that get edited out when I hit submit? Anyway, I'm looking for constructive criticism. Anything helps. If it sucks, it sucks, just say so. Claudia: We’re short, always short. We’re waiting, always waiting. Tom, our boss, spends the majority of his life reassuring me that he’s hired someone to fill the spot of seat-belt checker. That person will come, like Tom always says he or she will, and they will work for two, maybe three weeks, and then split. Sometimes they’re nice and will give several days, or even a week’s advance, but some go out on a fifteen minute break and never come back. I’ve learned to tell which type the new person is as soon as they walk up the path. You look at their fingernails. Seriously, try it sometime. If they are neatly trimmed with proportional cuticles and a natural color, then the person is genial and has a decent work ethic. But if it’s a kid who has nails that are bitten or shredded and have been partially colored in with white out—watch out! He or she may be a runner. Speaking of which, I needed a cigarette. A new seat-belt checker would be arriving within the next few minutes. I don’t know what it is with that position that drives so many away, but it’s the most vacant job on this platform. It was 9:55 AM. Another two hours and five minutes before I could get to my break—and my cigarette. Here’s the thing: the seat belt checker is important. No, it really is. If some squirt’s not properly harnessed then ¡Hasta Luego! See you in the afterlife. I’ve never actually heard of a kid plummeting to his death from a ride at our park, but surely it can happen. As supervisor, it’s my job to train the seat belt checker. Long story short, if that person screws up and a kid dies, it’s my fault and I’m dealing with all the paperwork. Last month this six year old boy named Trevor something-or-other threw up so violently that he smashed his head into the seat in front of him and broke his nose. I was up to my eyeballs in paperwork for that. Could you imagine if someone died on my shift? Shit would go down. And inadvertently, everything would be my fault. Milson came up beside me, pushing his mop bucket from one side of the platform to the other. “She’s coming,” he hissed, discreetly jerking his head to the left. I don’t know where that boy got so good at determining people’s agendas, but after four months of working with him, I’ve decided I might as well believe what he had to say. I looked in that direction and saw a small, blonde girl trying to make her way through the large crowd of tourists waiting for our ride to open its gates. She must be the new girl Tom was telling us about last night: the new seat-belt checker. Love...something. As if on cue, a large man with bird-watching binoculars around his neck threw a handful of popcorn at the girl. “Hey! You’re waiting in line like the rest of us!” That’s when I noticed two things about her. One: Her fingernails were clean. Two: She showed no indication of acknowledging the tourist. So she was either in a meditative state or deaf. Tom really had a knack for hiring people. Really. I saw her mouth form the words "Excuse Me" and work her way past the elbows restraining her. Just before she got to the front of the crowd an overexcited boy laughed and upended his sixteen ounce cup of Fruit Punch on the girl’s front. Two hours and counting until my cigarette.

what binoculars? I was curious to hear some advice about what type of binoculars I should look into. My family is starting backyard bird watching, so it would be used to watch them up closer, and possibly just around the neighborhood. We shouldn't be doing any major adventuristic type of activities such as hiking or whatnot. I noticed the most common is around 8x25, but was worred the 8 magnification would be too much for just our small back yard...should I look at more of a 4x? Also for the second number (what ever it is called), should I stick with one around 25...or would a higher field view be better for my purpose? Remember, it is just for our backyard viewing, and maybe in the neighborhood when I take the girls to the park...things like that. Thanks in advance!
Astronomy Binocular and Multi Purpose Binoculars? I am looking to buy 2 pair of binoculars but that are so many models that I am really confused. Can anybody help me out and suggest brands and model. 1 - Astronomy Binoculars I have searching online for a good binoculars that will let me look at the skies without much hassle. I saw some giant binoculars at binoculars dot com website and they need a tripod since they are too big. They come in 10x50 and 20x80. Can anybody recommend a good model that isn´t too expensive. I saw some models going for about $150 dollars. 2 - Multipurpose binoculars, even though giant binoculars can be used for daytime view they are very portable that why I would like to get a second pair of binoculars that is portable and has good capabilities for observing the nature, animals, bird watching, and so forth. Where is a good place to watch birds in Boracay? I watch birds as a hobby, using binoculars. I have observed birds from our backyard in Ambolong. After having been to Cebu and watched the spectacular gathering of migrant birds at SRP and Jugan, Consolacion, I wonder if there's a similar place in Boracay where birds, either migrant or local, congregate. Hi,I am a playworker and work for Cardiff Childrens Play Services,I have been given the task of putting a play pack together under the theme of "AIR" there is £300 to spend..I have thought of things like paper aeroplanes or books on how to fold different ones,windmills,wind Chimes,balloons,bubbles etc may be books on bird watching and binoculars, but been told look further or beyond than that as well. Binoculars zoom lenses? Everybody is saying don't get zoom binoculars, but what if you want to zoom your binocular in and out of an object that's probably too close or far away? I'm planning to purchase the nikon traiblazer 10X50, but I'm afraid if there's no zoom, it will serve no justice. This is my first time purchasing a binocular, and I've been doing alot of research but everything is sill a little unclear? I'm using it for star gazing, bird watching etc.. Is 10X50 good enough even-though there's no zoom? Also, it has a 292 ft wide FOV.. Is this good enough? I read that the wider the view, the more distortion it will probably have.

Anybody know about binoculars? I've recently been reading some astronomy guides and they say if you are just starting out, rather than jump in and buy a telescope, that you should start off with a cheap pair of binoculars, around the 50mm lens mark. I dont know what type of binoculars to get? all right so i want some binoculars BUT i just dont know which ones are good, for example i see numbers like 8x30 7x50, i wanted to get the 7x50 but im not sure if i will get more bang for my buck get it? in other words i want to get the most out of it since im paying...i know it all depends on what your gonna use em for...lets say its just for hmh.. bird watching,see a boat from afar! like that..thanks alot for your help.. :-)

my finch escaped her bird cage outside? this is what happend i put my birds outside on the table like i always do because the front door was open and my mum actually stayed at home today and was cleaning so i thought i would help by moping the floors real quick and going back outside but my mum shut the front door for no reason and then the cat knocks down my bird cage and one of my finches flys away i still have my other female my mum was real angry at me for not watching them and says its my fault and keeps shouting at me ive been outside with the other female bird with binoculars and a owl and no sign of my other female finch i dont know what to do ive given up looking and my mum has gotten even more mad at me saying i dont care about animals but what more can i do ive already been outside and today i dont have a spare cage to put food in and leave open for her but i think my other finch will get lonely should i get another but be more careful?

advice for buying Binoculars from ebay? I am looking for good Binoculars 20x or higher . I want strong one that good for watching birds from far away and for hunting. I found different kind but the prices vary too much.For example, I found 22x32 which costs $20 and another that costs $100. Price does not indicate quality speciaaly in ebay for those reason: 1- how much the seller want?(seller who has large quantities can sell for cheaper price" 2- Sometime you find the exact product but the difference in price is higher than $10. One reason might be the orgin of the seller. I want to pay maximum of $50 including shipping but I can not choose.
These cats are driving me INSANE...!!? (No, I will NOT act violently towards them or bring them to the pound to be killed - I love animals, but I have a right to be annoyed.) (No need to get angry at me for rambling. It's your own fault if you choose to read this, not mine.) These cats. They aren't strays. Their owners let them run loose. There are probably about twenty of them on my street alone. They are absolutely EVERYWHERE. I had my tent out in my *fenced-in* backyard because I was sleeping in it for a few nights, just for fun. I like sleeping outdoors once in a while. Well, guess what? Those cats peed all over it. All. Over. It. We feed the birds. What do the cats do? Sit near the feeder and wait for the birds to land. Hunting them. Feeding the birds is supposed to be an enjoyable experience for bird-watchers, not a trap. My cat, Smokey, is allowed to hang around in the backyard. He's an older cat and doesn't hunt or try to jump over the fence; he just likes to eat grass. But the cats like to jump the fence and harass him and try to get him into fights. Nearly every morning at about 3 AM, they fight under my window. A bunch of terrible, awful sounds: "YARRAWWWLLLLLLLLWARRRYARRRRR!!!" It goes on for a long time. And once I wake up, my mind starts going, and I have a hard time getting back to sleep. I have an air conditioner and a fan going; it helps block out the noise a little, but not completely. I refuse to wear earplugs. I'm a little funny about not being able to hear the goings-on in my house, y'know? I've tried covering my ears with stuff, but it just gets me nervous and I can't get to sleep at all. They destroyed my grandmother's garden. They turned it into a litterbox. She has arthritis really bad and can't keep fixing it. Poop, poop, everywhere. Torn-up plants and flowers wrecked/burned by pee. She stopped feeding the birds because of the cats that kept killing the ground-feeders. And she LOVED feeding the birds! She even had binoculars and a bird-watching book and everything... I've opened up the door before and they've tried to get into my house. One of them actually DID, and promptly started a fight with Smokey (the grass-eating cat...), who was sitting by the door. Started a fight with my cat...in--my--house. I'm not sure I'm even asking a question... I'm really just venting, but if anyone somehow has advice, that'd be fantastic. I have no idea what to do except move, but can't afford it right now, and I'm sure there'll be just as many loose cats in whatever neighborhood I end up in. I'm almost tempted to get a law passed about letting cats run loose in neighborhoods. I'm definitely not the only one who's fed up with it. Don't even joke around and tell me to get a gun or talk about how you shot cats. I don't want to hear it. I love cats. I just don't like what these ones are doing. I'd talk to the neighbors, but I have no idea who owns which cat... I don't really talk to them. Most of them are either insane or don't speak a word of English. It's a really bizarre neighborhood. I think most of them are neutered and spayed; a few aren't, though. A spray bottle? I doubt I could get close enough to them to do that... I've tried to approach them before, but only one (who's currently pregnant; check my other question) ever lets me... "If he's not outside, these annoying cats will have no reason to congregate in your backyard." He has nothing to do with it, they congregate in my backyard no matter what...the noises outside my window don't have to do with Smokey, either; he goes out a couple times a day for about ten minutes or so.
What are some good things to put in a care package for a bedridden Grandmother? My grandmother is recovering from uterine cancer and is currently bedridden. I talked to her on the phone, and I think she's very bored! She's an interesting lady, always is very active and curious about things and taking up new little projects and hobbies. Any snack/ gift/ book ideas that I could include in her package? Like, hobbies you could do in bed? I was going to get her some binoculars and a bird watching book, LOL. Thanks!
